Danish scientist, civil engineer, specializing in building materials.

Area of interest concerns building materials in general and their physical and chemical properties. Scientific activities include the following topics:

• deformation resistance (shrinkage and cracking) of concrete;
• concrete hardening;
• ultra-high strength concrete;
• kinetics of hydration, i.e. concrete hardening reactions;
• self-drying of concrete.

Scientific and pedagogical activities:

• University of Aberdeen, postdoc;
• 1994–1995 Tokyo Institute of Technology, visiting professor;
• January – March 2003 Israel Institute of Technology, visiting professor;
• April - May 2007 Southeast University and Jiangsu Academy of Building Sciences, visiting professor.
