Area of interest concerns building materials in general and their physical and chemical properties. Scientific activities include the following topics:
- deformation resistance (shrinkage and cracking) of concrete;
- concrete hardening;
- ultra-high strength concrete;
- kinetics of hydration, i.e. concrete hardening reactions;
- self-drying of concrete.

- 1994–1995 Tokyo Institute of Technology, visiting professor;
- January – March 2003 Israel Institute of Technology, visiting professor;
